The Wayne State College College of Medication’s Black Medical Affiliation and Black Males In White Coats will current a month-long symposium on the historical past of Black People in drugs.

The lineup for the 2023 Black Historical past Symposium contains:

Donovan Roy, vice dean of Variety, Fairness and Inclusion, was instrumental in arranging the 2023 Black Historical past Symposium. 

Feb. 1: Lonnie Joe, M.D., on “The Black Historical past of the Detroit Medical Heart,” and Anita Moncrease, M.D., M.P.H., president of Moncrease & Associates LLC and affiliate professor of WSU Pediatrics and Inside Medication, on “The Historical past of Black Medical Colleges in the US.”

Feb. 8: Samuel Johnson, M.D., chair of WSU Radiology, on “The Flexner Report,” and Stacey Varner, M.D., on “Blacks in Medication, Previous and Current.”

Feb. 15: T. Jann Caison-Sorey, M.D., M.S.A., M.B.A., Henry Ford Well being pediatrician, on “The Journey of Black Physicians, Trials and Triumphs,” and Theodore Jones, M.D., affiliate professor of WSU Obstetrics and Gynecology, on “Minority Physicians: Journey to Organized Medication.”

Feb. 22: James Brown, M.D., on “A Temporary Survey of the Historical past of Medication,” and Ijeoma Opara, M.D., assistant professor of Inside Medication and Pediatrics, on “When You Know Your Historical past You Know Your Greatness.”

March 1: Aliya Hines, M.D., assistant professor of WSU Dermatology, on “Our Contributions to Medication,” and the Rev. Donald Tynes, M.D., co-founder of Attain Out to Youth and a scientific assistant professor of Pediatrics and Inside Medication for the WSU College of Medication, on “Medication 4,500 B.C. to the Current.”
